Welcome
to my home page - I hope you find the information and inspiration you are
looking for.
Horses have been a fundamental part of my life for over 20
years. I have had some absolutely wonderful horses … and some ‘not so wonderful’…
however, every single one of them had a lesson to teach me. Now my aim
is to pass on some of the knowledge these amazing creatures have given
me.
Horses are physical creatures; they gallop, buck, slide and spin in
response to a crisp gust of wind or a lively paddock mate. They commit
physically when we ask for complex, athletic maneuvers whilst practicing our
dressage, jumping or flatwork. All these variables take their toll on the
horse’s muscoskeletal system.
I first became interested in sports massage
after having a therapist work on my mare and feeling the difference in
my horse’s movement and disposition. When my equine massage therapist moved
away I decided to gain my own accreditation so I could massage my own horse
effectively. After feeling the results firsthand, I began to work on other
horses and sports massage became my passion.
For almost a decade, that
passion has grown stronger and not only have my own horses benefited from
the knowledge I have gained, hundreds of others have also felt the relief
that sports massage produces.
In addition to helping the horse to achieve
its best physically, I also work with the horse and rider to attain the
very best results in their chosen area. Many years of teaching, lecturing
and industry experience have provided me with a solid foundation on which
to assess horse/rider relationships, identify goals and provide the relevant
tools and knowledge to help attain them.
Another area which is unfolding into
an amazing journey is the role that horses play in our lives and their influence
on our psyche. My own experiences with horses led me to a new understanding
of how they help us to question, learn, evolve and heal. I am very excited
to be one of the pioneers in our State in the field of equine-facilitated
therapy and look forward to developing this fascinating field.
